The Viking's Feast

..

For those who have browsed through my website, you know I offer my trademark "Bon Vivant Cutlery Set". I get more attention on these unique artistic eating utensils then most anything I do! And yes, it's true I carry a special knife and fork set with me everywhere I go, and eat with them almost exclusively! I love to see the expression of people's faces, especially the "seen-and-heard-everything" waitresses at Coffee Shops and the snobby head waiters at fru-fru Restaurants!

Besides, as I've said before, eating with these very eloquent and unique utensils, makes the food taste that much more special, and make ME feel that much more special eating it! My "Bon Vivant" collection is made to order, so I don't have a sets sitting in stock.

However, recently, when I had cut down some amazing East Indian Stag horn, and found these wonderfully matched and balanced tips, I just had to do something with them. My grandson, Lance, who I'm convinced is going to take over for me in a few years and let me retire (and he's only ten years old at the moment, but shows a whole to of his grandpa's passion for knife making!), saw a picture of one of my cutlery sets that I had made to order and asked me about the "thork".

I kept thinking he had some kind of speech impediment, and kept correcting him. "No… it's not Thork, Lance… it's pronounced Fork!" Finally he said to me: "Grandpa, you're wrong… a fork is called that because it has FOUR prongs… this only has three, so it's a Thork!" And you know what? He's absolutely right! So that's why I call this the "Knife and Thork" set. Actually I'm not even sure the Vikings were sophisticated enough to use cutlery… if I'm not mistaken, they used their hands and perhaps a knife to break through a joint of beef now and then… but that doesn't matter. To me this beautiful set looks like what they'd eat if they had the time, materials and energy (you get tired after a day of raping, pillaging and murdering and just want to sit back and stuff your face with your hands!).

The Viking's Feast Set has been perfectly balanced, and made to be light and compact to take anywhere. Trust me, there won't be an eye in the house not looking at you in awe when you use these! And they are made to last forever… a great heirloom "Knife and Thork Set" for your own next generation of Vikings!"
