"This is another in my Sportsmen Series of knives that are both collectable and crafted to be practical. A lot of people think I'm crazy since one of my favorite places to go on my travels is the Panhandle of Texas, especially Amarillo. The "big sky"… the horizons that stretch into infinity, really give me a sense of my place in the universe! The style of field-dress skinner knives that they use there are 'thickset", compact and strong. They especially like to keep them in their boots, and since they must trudge through a lot of mean and nasty brush (Mesquite being almost a bumper crop there… used for the wood in high-scale restaurants, and of course in those extra special BBQ briquettes)… with thorns you'd swear were made of high-tempered steel. So you need "tools" to match mother nature's most sturdy designs. Also, about a hundred years ago, when oil was starting to gush out… they needed something that could not only defend them from the brush and the elements… but also from marauders and bandits and poachers who populated the vast empty prairie. Many old timers call these knifes the "Lonestar Son"… that trusty faithful "sidekick" that was always there when you needed it.
In dedication to this crazy state and state of mind known as the "Panhandle", I've crafted my newest knife of the month!"
